Obituary of Kenneth D. Sparks
Kenneth D. Sparks, 78, of Brownsville died Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Brickyard Health in Richmond. Kenny was born on January 5, 1945 to Daniel and Lillian Marcum Sparks in McKee, Kentucky. He graduated from Short High School in Liberty prior to enlisting in the United States Army. Kenny proudly served from 1964 until his honorable discharge in 1967. He married the former Regina Hunneshagen on September 9, 1967 in Tacoma, Washington. Kenny was an Insurance Agent with Indiana Farm Bureau for thirty-five years. He attended St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus. Kenny was an avid golfer with a passion for horses and fast cars. He enjoyed traveling throughout the states and overseas with his loving wife. Kenny’s favorite place however, was on the farm with his family enjoying a cookout or a simple fire. His family meant the world to him, especially his grandchildren. Kenny will be dearly missed by the loving family he leaves behind. In addition to his wife of fifty-six years, Kenny is survived by his daughter: Sabrina Retherford; sons: Kenneth Bryan Sparks, Kenneth Corey Sparks; grandchildren: Kenneth Augustus Sparks, Kenneth Devan Sparks, and Margret Retherford; brother and sister-in-law: Prentis Hunsinger and Connie; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Kenny is preceded in death by his parents. A mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00a.m., Friday, August 11, 2023 at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Springersville Cemetery. Friends may visit at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville from 5:00p.m., until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 10, 2023. In lieu of gifts and flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association in Kenny’s honor.
