Bradley Kent Waddell, 76, of Connersville, died peacefully Sunday, September 8, 2024.
The son of Bert and Dorothy Rogers Waddell, Brad was born on June 4, 1948 in Connersville, Indiana. Following graduation from Connersville High School, Brad enlisted in the United States Air Force. He received multiple medals including: National Defense Service Medal, small-arms marksmanship expert ribbon, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1974. Brad married the former Diana K. Hahn on June 17, 1995; together they shared twenty-seven years prior to her death in 2022. Brad worked incredibly hard over the years to support his family. He was employed with Fayette Ford, Scripture Chevrolet, and Goodyear. In addition, he owned his own Marathon gas station for many years. A Christian man of faith, Brad attended Calvary Baptist Church until his health declined. He was an avid race fan. When Brad wasn’t working in the garage, you could find him attending races or watching them on television. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, especially trips to the casino. Brad was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who will be deeply missed.
Brad is survived by his children: Jamie and Anessa Waddell of Mooresville, Jason and Tasha Waddell of Covington, Chris Grimes of North Carolina; grandchildren: Taylor Grizzell, Layne C. Grimes, Hailie Grimes, Kanton Grimes, Ashley Waddell, Seth Waddell, Maria Dampier, Savion Waddell, Maxwell Waddell, Kingston Waddell, Brittany Colley, Caitlin Barns; great-grandchildren: Kooper and Finely Grizzell, Liam Colley, Bennett Colley, Averie Barns and Andrew Barns, Luca Dampier, Lennon Fahie; brothers and their spouses: Kenny and Eleanor Bottoroff of Richmond, Brian Waddell of Texas, Barton and Sherry Waddell of Connersville; sisters: Jennie Wissler of Peru, Indiana, Jolene and Bob Smith of Peru, Indiana; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and loving wife, Brad is preceded in death by his brothers: Bruce, and Barry Waddell; grandson: Ross Vicente Waddell; great-grandsons: Jameson Colley; Nephew: Doug Wissler.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:45p.m., Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Showalter Blackwell Long, Myers Chapel, Connersville with Pastor Bob Smith officiating. Burial with Military Honors will immediately follow at Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m., until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church in Brad’s honor.
