Richard William Thompson

Richard William Thompson, 72, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2021 in Spencer, Indiana.
Rick was born April 22, 1949 in Columbus, Indiana to Abe and Dorothy Thompson.
He graduated from Columbus North High School and enlisted in the United States Army in 1967. Following his discharge, he worked at Como Plastics in Columbus for over 20 years.
Rick was baptized at Lighthouse Community Church and was passionate about his love of God. He truly found happiness in his faith and loved attending church. He also enjoyed sharing stories and trivia about his favorite reggae bands, especially Bob Marley and the Wailers.
He had a cheerful personality and entertained those around him with his playful storytelling. He touched the lives of his loved ones and he will truly be missed by everyone who knew him.
Rick is survived by his daughters, Nicki and Jonie; his sister, Kay; nieces, Tonya and Mackcena; nephews, Lemonte and Shaun; 2 granddaughters; 4 grandsons; 1 great-nephew; 2 great-nieces; 2 great-great nieces; his lifelong best friend, Bill; and his good friends, Nate and Earl. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Donna; and his brother, Gary.
A funeral service for Rick will be held Friday, October 1, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Hathaway-Myers Chapel. The funeral service will be available via livestream and can be accessed by clicking the direct link below at the time of the service. Rick will be laid to rest following the service at Garland Brook Cemetery. Friends may call for visitation one hour prior to the service, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
