Norma Joann Smith

Norma Joann Smith, 81, of Columbus, died unexpectedly Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at her home.
Norma was a former employee of Dalmbert-Pushor & Mote Law Office and later worked and retired from Cummins Engine Company where she worked in the blueprint vault. She was an avid animal lover and believed in animal rescue and adoptions.
A 1950 graduate of Columbus High School, she was a member of First Christian Church and Office Workers Union.
In keeping with Norma’s wishes, cremation is planned and there will be no service or calling.
Arrangements were made by Hathaway-Myers Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to any animal rescue group.

Norma was born in Columbus Sept. 3, 1932, the daughter of Herschel F. and Grace Lee Cooksey Barnes.
Survivors include a son, Brett N. Smith, and a daughter, Melinda A. (Doug) Sharp, both of Columbus; grandchildren, Eric R. Sharp of Seymour, Jennifer M. Sharp of Evansville and Mitchell A. Smith of Bedford; and a sister, Gloria (Dick) Wayman of Indianapolis. She was preceded in death by her parents.
