Obituary of Robert Lowell Walker
Robert Lowell Walker, born June 26, 1982, in Bogota, Colombia, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, in Charlottesville, Albemarle County, Virginia. Robert lived in Charlottesville and attended Meriwether Lewis Elementary School. At age10, he moved with his father and step-mother to Grand Junction, Colorado, where he attended Orchard Avenue Elementary School, East Middle School, and Grand Junction High School. At age 16 he returned to Virginia to reside with his brother, Chris, and near his mother, Carolyn. He attended Harrisonburg High School and Turner Ashby High School. Soon after, he became certified as an EMT and loved working with the Charlottesville-Albemarle Rescue Squad (CARS), eventually becoming a Deputy Chief. At the time of his passing, he was employed by the Ridley Restaurant. Many people remember Robert for his love and care of small animals. When he lived in Colorado, his room was wall-to-wall tanks filled with either fish or hamsters, which he bred and sold the babies to the pet store. He spent many hours with his German Shepherd, Rico. He was a sensitive and caring person with a wonderful smile and an infectious laugh, who was happiest when he was helping others. He is survived by his mother, Carolyn Crane Walker of Charlottesville, his father, Frederic B. Walker IV, and his step-mother, Grace (Gay) Maier Walker of Grand Junction, Colorado. He is also survived by his brother, Christopher A. Walker of Weyers Cave, and his sisters, Maria F. Walker Nguyen of Bullhead City, Arizona; Amy L. Walker of Breckenridge, Colorado; his step¬sisters, Andrea Wood Grattan (Michael) of Grand Junction, Colorado; and Heather Wood Harrison of Richmond. Also surviving are his two nephews, Casey J. Walker and Keegan M. Walker of Weyers Cave and his step-niece, Faith V. Grattan of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and his step-nephew, Luke M. Grattan of Fort Collins, Colorado. He leaves behind many friends and associates, including life-long friends, Mary and Nathan Lowmax and family. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023 from 2:00-5:00 pm at The Ridley Restaurant Mezzanine in the Draftsman Hotel, 1106 West Main Street Charlottesville, Virginia.
