Howard John Brinner, Jr. 80, of Charlottesville, VA passed away Friday July 13, 2018. Born on November 28, 1937 in Washington D.C. to the late Howard J. Brinner, Sr. and Reita Grace Brinner.
John is survived by his brother William, Sr., sister-in-law Rita, nephew William Jr. and great niece, Hannah all from Roanoke.
John graduated in 1955 from Jefferson High School in Roanoke, then came to Charlottesville to pursue his many degrees at UVA. He graduated from the Law school in 1962 and worked for many years at the Blodinger Law Firm in Charlottesville, retiring from the Barbara W. Goshorn Firm in Palmyra.
John became a member of the CHi Phi Fraternity in his early years at the University, had always been an avid opera fan and was well versed in the operatic languages. He was a lover of trains and shared many memories of trips here and abroad.
He will be sorely missed by his close friends, David Bonds and wife Anita, Kay Littlejohn and family and his circle of opera loving friends and those who shared meals and evenings with him over the years.
After so many years in preparation, John took the final step of accepting the Roman Catholic faith as his own.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Saturday July 21, 2018 at Teague Funeral Chapel on Ivy Road in Charlottesville with reception to follow. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service.
