Donna Wright “Farnum” Malvin passed away on September 27, 2023, at the age of 81.
She was born on August 6, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan but grew up in Hampton, VA. Donna was the daughter of the late Charles and Muriel Wright of Pennsylvania. From a very early age, Donna had an extraordinary love for horses which later drew her to Charlottesville, VA in 1976. For many years she worked as a secretary at Verulam horse farm in Ivy, VA. Later, she worked at UVA Curry School of Education and during that time was inspired to go back to school and earn her bachelor’s degree from UVA in 2006. That same year she married the love of her life, Fred Malvin, and moved to Williamsburg, VA. For the next 16 years, they traveled extensively including trips to Africa, Alaska, San Salvador Bahamas, and sightseeing across the country. Their favorite pastime was attending William and Mary football and basketball games. Donna volunteered at William and Mary athletic department and Dream Catchers, a therapeutic horse center for disabled children and adults. After Fred’s passing in 2022, Donna moved to The Lodge at Old Trail in Crozet, VA to be closer to family.
Donna leaves behind a daughter Gena Sisson (Eddie), a granddaughter, Meredith Rae Sisson, a sister Deborah Wright, and three nieces.
Gena Sisson would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all at the Lodge at Old Trail for their immense care and compassion for both her mother and her, and for giving the gift of peace of mind. Also, she would like to thank Diane and Sarah with Legacy Hospice of Fishersville, VA for their amazing support and professionalism. As sung by Thomas Rhett, “Angels Don’t Always Have Wings”.
