Obituary of Tammy Orme
Tamara M. Orme, age 78, passed away on December 27th, 2022, in Carmel, Indiana. She was born on April 9th, 1944, in Anderson, Indiana. Tammy earned her degree in Education at Indiana University and later her master's degree in Library Science. She worked as a librarian in the United States and at the American International School in Shanghai, China. Tammy was married to Charles Henry Orme (Hank) in Bloomington, Indiana, on October 8th, 1964. Tammy and Hank spent the majority of their adult lives in St. Joseph, Michigan, and later in Lincoln, Nebraska, with two separate four-year stops in LaPorte, Indiana, and Shanghai, China. She and Hank loved their summers at the St. Joe beaches, spending time with family in Cape Cod for many years, and football games in Lincoln watching the Huskers. Tammy was an avid Indiana University basketball fan and held season tickets for many years. Some of her greatest family memories were made at Assembly Hall, but her most cherished times were watching her grandchildren play sports. She did not miss a child's event, a bad call in tennis, or a nonpass to her grandchild. She had a great combination of compassion, love, and encouragement while also having high expectations of her grandkids. They do not know sporting events without her in the stands. Tammy was preceded in death by her parents, Keith and Rosemary Merrick, and her sister, Melanie Tessendorf. Tammy will be deeply missed by her husband, Hank, her two sons, Matt and Eric Orme (and their wives, Kate Orme and Adisa Orme), and her nine grandchildren (Ali, Sam, Andrew, Emily, Abby, Will, Owen, Ajdin, and Benny). A celebration of life for Tammy will be held Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, 5910 William Connor Way, Carmel, IN 46033. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Tammy's memory may be made to Boys & Girls Club Lincoln/lancaster County, https://lincolnbgc.harnessgiving.org/campaigns/9467.
