Steven Thomas Matthews

Steven Thomas Matthews, 65, of Bloomington passed away Friday, February 18, 2022. He was born January 11, 1957 in Ocean City, New Jersey to David Matthews and Barbara Brown Matthews. He was employed at NSWC Crane. Survivors include his wife of 4 years, Luz Makidato Matthews of Bloomington; two daughters, Rachel (Conor) McQueary of Bloomington and Leah (Jason) Ortega of Linton; a son, Ian Matthews of Bloomington; four grandchildren, Madison, Lillian and Kaiden Ortega and Margot McQueary; a sister, Catherine (Marion) Kulpa; three brothers, David (Jane) Matthews, Brian (Kim) Smith and Timothy Matthews; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of over 30 years, Rosemarie Matthews; and a brother, Danny Matthews. Steven was a U. S. Navy Veteran. He enjoyed spending time with his family and watching Philadelphia Sports (Eagles and Phillies), music of all genres and was an aficionado of craft beers. There will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date in New Jersey. Arrangements are under the direction of Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home.
