Steven Thomas Gimbut

Steven Thomas Gimbut, age 41, resident of Linton, Indiana, formerly of Bloomington, Indiana. Passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2023 in Greene County as the result of an automobile accident. Beloved son of Teresa (Tomlinson) Gimbut and the late Steven W. Gimbut. Loving brother of Erin (Jason) Myers and devoted uncle to Kadence Myers. Loved by countless others; Steven was employed as a field service heavy equipment mechanic for the Peabody Bear Run Coal Mine. He had formerly worked in Texas oil fields on hydraulic systems and diesel engines. Steven honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corps and upon discharge, served as a police officer for the Winter Haven, FL Police Department. He was a trained SCUBA diver as well as a certified underwater welder. Steve had an incredible sense of humor and was a friend to everyone. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed playing guitar, fishing, and hunting. A memorial gathering will be on Saturday, September 9 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home.
