Ruth Young

Ruth Young, age 102, of Bloomington, died Friday morning at Autumn Hills Special Care Center in Bloomington. Born September 3, 1911 in Lawrence County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Chris and Rose (Southern) Meadows. She was a loving wife, sister and aunt and a member of the United Presbyterian Church and Kappa Kappa Sigma philanthropic sorority. She had worked as an Executive Secretary at R.C.A. and later in the office of her husband’s forklift business, Allied Industrial Equipment in Knoxville, Tennessee. She also had served several years as a volunteer in the gift and floral shop at I.U. Health; Bloomington Hospital. She is survived by several nieces and nephews including; Sandra Deckard and Leota Southern, both of Bedford and Linda Williamson and Dennis Wisley, of Bloomington. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Young on January 31, 2013, six brothers and four sisters. Friends may visit the family at the United Presbyterian Church on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. J. Mitchell Coggin and Rev. Robert Lorimer officiating. Entombment will follow in the Valhalla Mausoleum.
