Obituary of Mable Jean Hamlin Weaver
Donald R. and Mable J. Weaver, both of Bloomington, died from injuries suffered in an auto accident in Crawford County Indiana on Monday. They were married on May 5, 1956 in Bloomington. Mable and Don were very unique, sweet people that made sure their grandchildren never wanted for anything. They loved everyone unconditionally and made anyone they met feel like family. Donald was born on March 16, 1933, in Bloomington, the son of Millard and Pearl Irene (Sparks) Weaver. Donald, a relief tester, retired from RCA after 40 years of service. He graduated from Bloomington High School and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Burton Woolery Post #18 in Bloomington. Don loved his fishing trips to Canada, never had a harsh word for anyone, and was an extremely loyal and genuinely kind man. Mable was born on December 11, 1925, in Bloomington, the daughter of Shelton and Hazel (Sample) Hamlin. She retired after 40 years of service from the Ramada Inn in Bloomington, where she worked in the Linen room. Mable was a loving mother and grandmother. She was the most unique and exceptional 89 year old woman in the world. Mable was adventurous, witty, and ahead of her time. She also took pride in her beautiful flower gardens and loved to crotchet. Together, Don and Mable are survived by their daughter, Kimberly Weaver, of Bloomington, who was riding with them at the time of the accident; David (Mary Lou) Gallagher, of Owensburg; three grandchildren, Joe White, of Terre Haute, Jennifer (Justin) Keller, of Worthington, and Jessica White of Terre Haute; two great-grandchildren, Megan Bough and Jordan Bough, and several nieces and nephews. Mable is also survived by one sister, Dorothy Blake, of Bloomington. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and three sisters. Mable was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Hamlin. Together, Don and Mable, were preceded in death by their daughter, Robin White, on November 1, 2006. The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Deremiah-Frye Mortuary Greene and Harrell Chapel; 700 W. Gourley Pike with Pastor Roger Helton officiating. Burial for Donald will follow at Carmichael Cemetery where the Monroe County Veterans Honor Guard will perform military graveside rites. Friends may visit the family on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to IU Health Bloomington Hospice, or to the charity of one’s choice.
