Obituary of Harry M. Morganett
Harry M. Morganett 91, of Bloomington passed away on Friday, March 26 at Garden Villa. He was born on July 29, 1918 in Valley Station, Kentucky to the late John and Delphine (Dietz) Morganett. He had worked at Koch Mfg. Co. and at Ford Motor Co. in Louisville, KY. After moving to Indiana in 1950 he worked at Jasper Rubber Products and Acme Metal Products. He moved to Bloomington where he worked at Otis Elevator before retiring after 16 years. He served as part of the crew for 29 months aboard the battleship USS Indiana in the Pacific where he earned 9 battle stars. He was a lifetime member of the Van Buren Fire Department and a member of the VFW post 604, and also a member of the USS Indiana reunion association. Harry leaves behind his 2 sons Gerald (Phyllis) Morganett of Bloomington, and Dr. Lee Morganett of New Albany, IN. He also leaves behind 3 grandchildren Jody Morganett, Gina Parks, and Jeff (Vicki) Morganett all of Bloomington, 7 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Helen Virginia (Padgett) Morganett, 2 brothers Wade G. Morganett, Fred J, Morganett, and 4 sisters Helen Board and her twin sister Alice, Dorothy Schneider, and Ruby Gartner. Friends may call at the Deremiah-Frye Mortuary on Monday from 4 – 8 PM. Services will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM also at the funeral home with Rev. Roger Helton officiating.
