Pauline Alderman Turner

Pauline “Polly” Alderman Turner, 86, of Fieldale, died Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville. She was born in Floyd on September 27, 1927 to the late Saford C. Alderman and Louisa Webb Alderman. Pauline worked in the Martinsville City School System as Cafeteria Manager for several years. She was the owner and operator of the Williamsburg House which later became the Williamsburg Cafeteria of Martinsville for more than eight years. She became a member of Mount Bethel United Methodist Church in February 1953, in those sixty one years, served as the church treasure for twenty years, Sunday School Teacher, Member of the Homemakers Group and later joined the United Methodist Esther Circle. Pauline and her husband, Albert enjoyed western square dancing.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert S. Turner, four sisters, Ora A. Thompson, Cecil A. Hale, Wavie A. Grennert and Gracie A. Bolt, four brothers, Maynard, Otis, Elbert and Buel Alderman.
Surviving are one son, David Turner of Martinsville, one sister, Lorene A. Goad of Dugspur, and one brother, Delmer Alderman of Hillsville.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Mount Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Garner officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services.
