Obituary of Rev. Etholene Barbour Johnson
Rev. Etholene Barbour Johnson obeyed her heavenly father’s command and answered his call on February 21, 2015 from Henry, VA at the age of 71. She was born on February 22, 1943 to the late Samuel Preston Barbour and wife Annie Myrtle Austin from Franklin County. She was preceded in death by her brothers Estel (Jigger) Barbour, Maynard Barbour, Delis (Dale) Barbour, Lynwood Barbour and her sister Hazelene and her husband Junior Hazelwood. Surviving are her loving husband of 55 years, Ralph David Johnson; children, daughter Sherry, husband Dr. John Thompson, son Ronnie, wife Ellie Johnson, daughter Deana Johnson, and daughter Peggy, husband Dallas Franklin, her grandchildren, Christa Hall, Matt and Mark Thompson, Ashley and Amber Johnson, Wesley and Samuel Shifflett, David Shively, Kayla, Sarah, and John Martin, Dwayne, Joshua, and Daniel Franklin, along with numerous great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her brothers Cletus, wife Linda Barbour and Curtis, wife Ann Barbour, and sisters-in-law Jo, Ellen, Margie, and JoAnn. Rev. Johnson was credentialed with the Assemblies of God on September 29, 1988 as a Certified Minister and advanced to Licensed Minister September 24, 1991. During her ministry she served as pastor of Endicott Assembly of God for 15 years and Calvary Assembly of God in Syndorsville, VA for 7 years. Prior to beginning her pastorate she served as a Sunday school teacher, pianist, and Bible study leader. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother and loved to share Gods word whether spoken or in song. She was a great role model for her family. The family will be receiving friends at Collins Funeral Home on Monday February 23, 2015, from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be conducted at Collins at 2 P.M. Tuesday, February 24, 2015, with Dr. John Thompson and Rev. Matt Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Henry Memorial Park.
