Donald "Duck" Wayne Patterson

Donald “Duck” Wayne Patterson, 87, of Martinsville. Va. passed away Friday, May 31, 2024. He was born in Henry County April 21, 1937 to Thomas Alfred Patterson and Icie Mary Alexander Patterson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Alfred Patterson and daughter, Katheryn Magee Young.
He is survived by his wife, Evonne White Patterson; sons Richard “Shawn” Magee (Christy) and Robert “Scott” Magee (Gladys); 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; sisters, Jean P. Moore and Linda P. Lineberry; sister-in-law, Lorene Patterson; a host of nieces and nephews; and his faithful companion, Bandit.
Mr. Patterson was the owner and operator of Patterson Vending Company. He loved his family and would call and check on his sisters daily. He also enjoyed playing golf, fishing and working in his yard.
Mr. Patterson was a member of Chatham Heights Baptist Church. He loved his church family and reading the bible. He had served 6 years in the Army National Guard.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Collins Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2025 at Henry Memorial Park and will be officiated by Rev. Dr. Mike Hatfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chatham Heights Baptist Church, 1235 Chatham Heights Road, Martinsville, Va. 24112.
