Obituary of Adelene Frances Thomas Naff
Adelene Frances Thomas Naff, age 69, of 1166 Lillian Naff Dr., Henry, died Friday, October 05, 2012, at her home. Born in Franklin County January 8, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Vestal Thomas and Louella Stone Thomas. Also preceding her in death was a brother, Larry Thomas, and a grandson, Calvert Naff. She worked for Bassett Furniture Industries and Bank Services of Virginia, and more recently she co-owned Naff’s Country Store and Grill with her husband of 47 years, Junior Naff. Frances was a graduate of Franklin County High School and was a very active member of Mill Creek Baptist Church, where she organized the prayer chain and the church’s National Day of Prayer. She was also a member of the Mill Creek Trio for 30 years, the WMU and PR Director of the church. She was also an author of several published articles. Frances was a ‘people person’ and was a dedicated and loving grandmother; she was also a ‘good’ cook. Her son Tony said “Mom always ended every letter with, ‘I shall love you forever’”. In addition to her husband, Frances is survived by her daughter, Susan Naff Cook of Henry, two sons, Mark Naff of Henry and Tony Lawrence Naff of Bassett, two step-sons, Rudy Naff and Warren Naff, both of Henry, four sisters, Barbara Tatum of Henry, Kay Williams of Ferrum, Carolyn Garlick of Henry, Pat Turner of Endicott, a brother, Steve Thomas of Henry, and nine grandchildren, Eric Naff, Jessica N. Hopkins, Raven Naff, Lillian Naff, Chelsea Cook, Tyler Cook, Emily Naff, Grace Cook, Sarah Naff. The funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. Monday, October 8, 2012, at Mill Creek Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Brian Goard officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the church and at other times at the home.
