Marion Louise Dickson Koren, born in Pittsburgh, PA, in 1917, celebrated her 101th birthday on Sunday, February 4, 2018. She died in Hospice care on February 23, 2018. Daughter of David and Vera Dickson, she spent her early years in the Millvale section of Pittsburgh. She remembers the thrill of going to her grandmother's confection shop. Later the family moved to Greenfield to a house on Nantasket Street built by her father. Marion graduated from Taylor-Alderdice High School. She spend many summers vacationing on Lake Erie at the family cottage at Madison, OH. It was there that she met Leo Koren, her future husband. They raised two boys, David and Jim, at their home on Gardenville road in Baldwin. In 1958 they moved to Ithaca, NY where Leo was offered a job. Marion went back to school and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. After retiring, Marion and Leo moved to Ashland, VA. Marion's final residence was Hanover Manor Assisted Living Facility. Marion was preceded in death by her mother and father, David and Vera Dickson, her sister, Lois Patrus, and her husband, Leo. She is survived by her sons, David (Kay) and James, David's sons, David Dickson Koren and Emeka Mark Koren (Jill), and James' sons, James Michael Koren and James' daughter, Riley Elizabeth Koren; her great-grandchildren, Sonny and Esphyr Koren and Caleb Koren Lee; her neice Carol Craig and nephew, John Patrus.
