Sheila L. Weir

Sheila Lane Weir On Thursday, January 4, 2018, in Arlington, Virginia. Sheila was born November 22, 1935 in Corregidor, Philippines; the daughter of Major General John J. and Mary Dorthea Lane. From a military family, she grew up in Arlington, VA, West Point, NY, Heidelberg, Germany and graduated from St. Mary's Academy High School in Alexandria, VA. She later attended George Washington University. In 1957, she joined United Airlines and earned her wings as a flight attendant and later on as an international reservations agent, serving proudly with United for 30 years. In 1961, she married John "Jack" Weir in Honolulu, Hawaii. Sheila is survived by her siblings Thomas Lane, Col. John Lane, Maureen Lane-Maher; her children Teresa Mulder, Terry Weir, Tim Weir and her five grandchildren Maddy Mulder, Michael Mulder, Charlotte Weir, Jack Weir and Marie Weir. Friends and family may call at Murphy's Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, Virginia, on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, from 5 to 7 p.m. Service will be held Thursday, January 11, 2018, at 11:45am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 18825 Fuller Heights Road, Triangle, VA followed by interment at Quantico National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions in her name can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
