Maria Guadalupe Hernandez

Maria G. Hernández lost her battle with cancer and returned to Our Lord on October 25, 2014 surrounded by her family and her pastor Father Tim. She was born in Texas and graduated from the University of Texas Pan American. She was preceded in death by her mother, Guadalupe Saenz Hernández and her father, Jesus Hernández, Sr. She is survived by her two sisters (Ida & Teresa), four brothers (Hector, Lisandro, Jesus, Jr., and Jose Luis) and beloved cats Cin-cin & Boyzie. As a political appointee during the Clinton Administration, Maria was so dedicated to public service that she continued her work as a federal civil servant until her death. Maria served over 20 years as a civil servant and died in active service. She was a strong believer in the Spirit of the Gospel of Saint Matthew, Chapter 25:31-46 and lived her life with love and compassion for others. One of Maria’s proudest and most humble accomplishments was mentoring a young woman from SW Washington, D.C. from elementary school through college and into motherhood. A service in celebration of her life will be held at Our Lady Queen of Peace (OLQP) Catholic Church in Arlington, Virginia on Monday, November 3, 2014 at 6:00PM.
