Malvin E. "Sam" Howlett Jr. suddenly and unexpectedly passed away, at the age of 70, from a heart attack at his home in Arlington, VA. Sam is survived by his long-time loving partner, Chuck Bender, his sister, Susan (Michael Gomez), brothers Christopher and Michael, three nieces, two nephews, his health care providers who cared for him, many people who were touched by his loving and generous spirit, and his beloved terrier, Amy. To those who wish, donations may be made to their local animal shelters. There will be no memorial service at Sam's request.
