LAWRENCE MONROE LARSEN, LCDR, USN (Ret.), 93, formerly of Arlington, VA passed away peacefully on Friday, October 6, 2023, surrounded by family in Hot Springs, SD. He was the beloved husband of Eleanor E. Larsen (nee Gambino) for 57 years, son of the late Luther and Margaret Larsen.
He is survived by his children, Stella Mandley (Bob) of Hagerstown, MD, Kathleen Sellers (Peter) of Leesburg, VA, Lauren Padgett (Alan) of Hot Springs, SD, and Larry Larsen (Jennifer) of Manassas, VA. He leaves five grandchildren, Kerry Banker, Erin Gonzalez, Allie Mandley, and Robert and Lucas Padgett. He also leaves three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor, and sisters, Margaret, Carolyn Rita and Lila Mae.
Viewing/Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 20, 2-4PM and 6-8PM, at Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd, Arlington.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, Oct. 21, 10:30 AM, at Saint Agnes Church, 1914 N. Randolph St., Arlington, followed by a reception at Murphy Funeral Homes from 12PM - 2PM. Interment will occur Monday, March 11, 2024, 1:00PM at Arlington National Cemetery. There will be a graveside service with full military honors.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Larry’s name to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
