Larry French Packett

Larry French Packett, 69, returned to his heavenly home on October 1, 2016, after bravely battling cancer. Larry was born in Richmond, VA to his parents, Mary Ellen and Arthur Packett. He received an Army Commendation Medal for his meritorious service in the Republic of Vietnam from 1971 to 1972. He received his J.D. from George Mason University School of Law in 1982. He married Gladys Packett in 1978. The Packetts lived in Arlington where Larry worked as a criminal defense attorney for over three decades. Larry is survived by his loving wife, Gladys; son, Jason; daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Raul Rodriguez; three siblings, Virginia Mae Barnes (John), Barbara Walker (William), John Packett (Shirley); and two grandchildren, Alex and Sofia Rodriguez. His sister Frances Wright (Gregory) predeceased him. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2016, at Murphy Funeral Home in Arlington, VA. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 7, 2016, at Arlington Temple United Methodist Church. Burial service with military honors to follow at Columbia Gardens Cemetery. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Larry’s life.
