Florence Larue Fetterman
1927 -- 2020
With incredible sadness, we announce the passing of our Mother, Florence Larue Fetterman, known to many as Flo, on Sunday evening, November 1, 2020.
Mom was born of humble beginnings in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. She was a self proclaimed "Groundhog Day Queen"; a title she wore fervently and enthusiastically. Everyone she encountered on February 2nd was educated about Punxsutawney Phil.
Mom and Dad were married in 1951 and after a brief stint as an Army wife, they settled in Alexandria, Virginia. There she began a job that would be her career working for the Army Corps of Engineers as a Protocol Liaison at Ft Belvoir, Virginia. Since she had a dazzling smile and a joyous personality, she was well suited for the position. With her well manicured nails holding a Kleenex and wearing 4 inch heels, she was a force to be reckoned with.
Her love of travel took her across the United States and around the world.
Her thoughtfulness and generosity afforded her many, many dear friends.
She was profoundly devoted to her family and loved when company came to visit.
But it was her devout belief in God and being a "prayer warrior" that took her gently out of the physical world to join our Dad in everlasting life with a sweet smile on her face. She was not afraid. She was a stunning, unwavering example of faith in God.
She is survived by her children, Randy, Sheri and Sandi and their spouses. Her grandchildren, Jennette, Caitlin and Logan and their spouses. Her great grandchildren, Jacob, Emily and Huntleigh.
It has been asked, "How did a woman from Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania end up with a French middle name of Larue?" We don't know Rick, but the French should feel honored.
Mom, we miss you dearly.
Love,
Randy, Sheri and Sandi
