History

Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home in Scituate, Massachusetts, has served the Scituate area with funeral and cremation services for over 60 years.

A place of comfort

On September 17, 1955, Ernest A. “Ernie” Richardson opened the doors of the Ernest A. Richardson Funeral Home on First Parish Road in Scituate, Massachusetts. Mr. Richardson was known in Scituate for serving the needs of the community with love, compassion and unwavering dedication. For 30 years, he ran the funeral home and constantly worked to provide an establishment that residents of Scituate could take pride in.

Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home was established after the merging of the Ernest A. Richardson Funeral Home and the Edward J. Gaffey & Sons Funeral Home, which stood in North Scituate for many years.

Continuing care

Our Scituate funeral home was once a simple 1890s farmhouse that housed the town’s post office in the front room. Today, we offer an open, spacious venue with a large chapel and smaller rooms for more intimate gatherings. We are proud to be ever evolving with the needs of today’s families and still have the ability to serve our community with the same compassionate care on which our funeral home was founded.
