Nécrologie de Steven Elliot Jacob
Steven Elliot Jacob passed away on February 19, 2014, having lived a too-short life filled with highways, daring, and rock and roll. Steven was born on May 23, 1978, and grew up in Newport News. From the time he could toddle, Steven was a firecracker that could not be ignored. After high school, he traveled the country by bus, riding down the Grand Canyon on a donkey and listening to blues music in Memphis. A veteran server at some of Hampton Roads’ favorite restaurants, Steven took pride in bringing great service and good food to visitors to the area. But Steven’s greatest joys came from his search for the next new thrill: from a ride on his beloved Harley to rocking out at a Pink Floyd concert to training his dog Dixie so well she could read his mind. His family loved him furiously. Steven is survived by his parents, Mark and Nancy Jacob of Seaford, VA; his brother, Fred Jacob, sister-in-law, Beth Jacob, nephew Charlie and niece Alice of Washington, DC; his aunt, Jewel Jacob and cousins Norma, Mike, and Sid Hall, all of Williamsburg, and cousins Leslie and Toby Gillie, of Deltaville. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in Steven's name to the American Heart Association, the Richmond Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Little Kids Rock, or another kick-ass charity you think Steven would have appreciated. Together with Steven’s many friends, we send him on to his next adventure with all the love in our hearts. Shine on you crazy diamond, we love and miss you already. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Nelsen Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Williamsburg Memorial Park.
