Robert Erling Logan passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2021. Handsome Bob, as he was known to many, was born on March 28, 1939 in Alexandria, VA. Bob attended George Washington High School, where he excelled on the crew team and also met two of his lifelong friends Skip and Mickey. Bob studied business at American University before taking his first job at United Airlines where he met his loving wife of 60 years, Carol. Bob and Carol discovered a passion for travel, adventure and experiencing new cultures around the world. They visited over 75 countries and all 7 continents together as well as rediscovering America by RV within the last few years.
Their legacy for travel and adventure was shared and cultivated with their children and grandchildren over their lifetime. Known by his grandkids as “Opa”, he and Carol took each grandchild on a special one-on-one trip to the country of their choice where they created a lifetime of memories.
Bob retired from EM Logan & Sons, an HVAC company in Alexandria, VA after 30 years of service. To Bob, the best thing about his career is that he got to help people and work side by side with his family including his father EM, sister Jackie, brother Wayne, brother-in-law Teddy, Uncle Shirley and his nephews, Lenny, Mark and Kevin.
As a volunteer firefighter, an active Lions Club member and president, volunteering at soup kitchens and aquariums, and taking in exchange students at every opportunity, Bob consistently impacted the lives of those around him.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; children, Karen King (Judson), Brian Logan (Kristen), and Annika Wilhelmsson (Lars); grandchildren, Josh Logan, Katie Hobby (Dan), Josefin Karlsson, Andie McHugh (Patrick), Shannon King, Johanna Karlsson, Kenzie Logan, Natalie Logan, and his favorite of all time--his great-grandson, Liam.
Bob never met a stranger and always found a way to lighten the mood. Bob just made everything better.
We will be having a service at his bench at Old Bethel Cemetery in Alexandria, VA on Saturday, November 20 at 12:30 pm. An Irish wake will follow.
He wanted you all to know that if he owes you a beer, he’ll see you on the other side!
So please come sit and share a moment at his bench.
