Doris Helen Chohany

Doris was born with her twin brother, Donald, on July 22, 1929 to Irene and Neil Cain in Beaver Dams, NY. She lived in upstate New York until her enrollment in nursing school located in Sayre, Pennsylvania. Upon graduation from nursing school, Doris went on to become an operating room nurse where she met a dashing young surgeon, George Chohany, who she eventually married. Doris and George were married at Sage Chapel in Ithaca, NY on July 27, 1953 and were inseparable for more than 60 years. During their lives they enjoyed traveling and experiencing the world together. Doris was particularly fond of dancing and there was no better partner than her beloved George. Doris always missed George after his passing in 2012, so she can now rest peacefully as she joined him on May 15, 2023 in the early peaceful morning hours. Doris is survived by her four children, John and his wife Stephanie; Ann and her four children and her husband Tommy Armstrong; Tom and his wife Lisa and their four children; and Mickey and his wife Vicki and their two daughters; and thirteen great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all those she touched and will be forever remembered as the “Irish eyes that were always smiling.” At Doris’ request the funeral and burial at Cedar Grove Cemetery are private.
