Retired Sergeant, USMC, Bruce Lee Anderson, 67, died November 22, 2018 a short while after enjoying Thanksgiving dinner with family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Valda R and Ralph Lee Anderson. He is survived by his wife, Paula, and his two sons, Benjamin and Aaron. Sgt. Anderson served with distinction in the United States Marine Corps from 1972 to 1976. He was stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC as a 0844 Fire Direction Control for 105mm and 155mm artillery and deployed to Vietnam and surrounding areas. Sgt. Anderson also served with the Marine Security Guard to stand guard at US Embassies in Vietnam, China, and Lebanon. He was awarded the Navy Distinguished Service Medal, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Presidential Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, USMC Good Conduct, National Defense, Vietnam Service, USMC Security Guard, Vietnam Campaign, and USMC Expert Rifle, USMC Expert Pistol and USMC Parachute Badges. After the Marine Corps, Bruce served with the William and Mary Campus Police and then with the James City County Sheriff’s office/Police Dept. He volunteered his time as a Scout Master for several troops in Texas and Virginia. Bruce’s legacy is continued through his sons Benjamin and Aaron, who he fiercely loved. Both are Eagle Scouts and the elder served as a USMC Cpl. during Operation Iraqi Freedom. To honor his memory, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
