Paul Eugene Schultz, 85, of Waynesboro passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Augusta Health.
Born July 28, 1937 in Lundale, WV, he was a son of the late Dove J. and Anna Effie (Rice) Schultz. On January 3, 1957 he married Alice Marie Stumbo. The two shared 66 wonderful years of marriage together.
Paul served his country honorably for over 24 years with the Army and retired as a Sergeant Major. He was a Vietnam veteran having been a part of the Special Forces and because of his heroism, his medals, commendations, and citations included the Master Parachutist Badge, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Air Medal Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Purple Heart – 3rd Award, Meritorious United Commendation, Army Commendation Medal – 2nd Oak Leaf Cluster, Presidential Unit Citation Award, Vietnam Service Medal with 6 Service Stars, and the Vietnamese Special Forces Jump Wings. Paul was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was an avid golfer and greatly enjoyed watching Fox News. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend to many.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David Schultz; grandson, Chase Schultz; three sisters; and three brothers.
Survivors include his loving wife, Alice (Stumbo) Schultz of Waynesboro; son, Ricky Schultz and wife, Teri of Fayetteville, NC; daughter, Shari DeLange and husband, Rick of Waynesboro; six grandchildren, Jason Schultz, Michael Schultz, Jeremy DeLange and wife, Paige, Jonathan DeLange and wife, Kelsey, Jordan DeLange and wife, Faith, and Morgan Roe and husband, Nicholas; great-grandchildren, Jordan Schultz, Jeffrey Schultz, Raegan DeLange, and Adley DeLange; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, a service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
