Margaret Ann (Little) Martin, 72, of Afton passed away Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Augusta Health.
Born June 16, 1941 in Richmond, she was the daughter of the late Marcus Vanburen and Gladys (Kerr) Little. On October 21, 1960, she married the love of her life and best friend, James D. Martin, Jr. The two shared a blessed union of 53 years together.
Mrs. Martin was a member of Rockfish Presbyterian Church, Nellysford. In her earlier years as a church member she taught Sunday school and participated in the women’s group. Most of her working life she held positions in the clerical field with various businesses. She enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting, cooking and her cook books, reading, camping, fishing and traveling.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Geraldine L. “Gerry” Ditchkus.
Survivors include her loving husband, James D. Martin, Jr.; son, Mark Martin; grandsons, David Vanburen “Buck” Martin and wife, Kelli and John Robert Martin; sisters, Bea L. Jenkins and Sharon L. Burtner and husband, Duane.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Rockfish Presbyterian Church, Nellysford, with Pastor Louie V. Andrews, III officiating.
Active pallbearers will be Buck Martin, John Robert Martin, Ryan Burtner, Kyle Burtner, Mike Martin and Matt Martin.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St.
