Nécrologie de Wilcie Alafair Leonhardt
Virginia Beach - Wilcie Alafair Leonhardt, 86, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thurs. Jan. 18, 2018. Born to Luther and Roxie Ann McCall on June 2, 1931 in Walnut Creek, NC, she was well known in her community for serving others especially the elderly. "Early to bed and early to rise" was a characteristic she retained from childhood and would often greet someone at their door with the sun and a plate of her homemade sweet potato biscuits. Once all of her children left home, Wilcie went to work with her husband, R.L., who was a carpenter by trade, until his passing. She then began her career in housekeeping. "Cleanliness is next to godliness" was a passion for her. Her green thumb was a source of envy; her garden, fruit orchard and especially her flowers. She would stick anything in the ground and it would flourish. Her favorite pastime was fishing, both fresh and saltwater, although she absolutely refused to cook or eat any. She spent many hours refurbishing antiques and holding garage sales to pass those finds on to others. Wilcie is survived by two children, Marvin and Wanda Sue; seven grandchildren, Harmony, Beau, Curt, Amy, Rob, Jae and Sam; nine great-grandchildren, Hailie, Kayley, Alex, Hudson, Savannah, Keller, Mya, Aaliyah and Kiera Mae; as well as two sisters, Lyla Coggins and Rachel Levens. She is preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Robert Lee Leonhardt Jr.; son, Boyd Lee; and 9 brothers and sisters, Willard, Wilford, Jim Macy, Arvel, Nettie, Algie, Little John and Curlee. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Sat. Feb. 24, 2018 at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Virginia Beach, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Haven Children's Home. You may offer condolences to the family at www.smithandwilliamskempsville.com.
