Mary Kornowske Mesce - Cherished Wife, Sister, Stepmother, Nona, Aunt, and Friend (Virginia Beach, VA) - Mary Kornowske Mesce passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 surrounded by her grieving husband and loved ones. She was a beloved wife, fur-mom, stepmother, nona, sister, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Mary was born on December 2, 1953 to Phylis and Rollie Kornowske. Originally from De Pere, Wisconsin, she was a graduate of De Pere High School, Class of 1972. Mary moved to NYC where she went on to pursue her passion for fashion at the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology, graduating in 1976. Mary then embarked on a successful career in the fashion industry. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Mary was a lover of crafting and creating.Her creativity extended beyond traditional methods, and she found joy in cooking and baking, gardening, home decorating, and a lover of wine. Mary's handmade gifts were always cherished by her loved ones, and her passion for creating beauty will be a lasting inspiration. Mary met the love of her life, Larry, and they were married on May 15, 2000. They built a beautiful life together, and Mary was not just Larry's wife, but his best friend and confidante. Larry is heartbroken by her loss and will cherish their memories forever. Mary’s fur babies, Commander and Bently will also miss her loving care. Mary was a loving stepmother to Ann Marie and Tricia. She cherished her role as Nona to Austin and Axel. They will cherish their memories of Mary. Mary was a devoted sister to Les and a cherished aunt to her nephews, nieces and their children. Mary was a loyal friend who was always there to lend a listening ear or offer a helping hand. Mary held a special place in her heart for children, and their innocent wonder always brought out her playful side. Beyond her love for family and friends, Mary harbored a deep passion for art, finding beauty and inspiration in its many forms. She was also a dedicated homemaker, taking immense pleasure in creating a warm and inviting atmosphere in her home. Few things brought her more delight than a perfectly celebrated event surrounded with delicious food and surrounded by loved ones. Christmas was a time of particular joy for Mary, a time to gather loved ones close and celebrate the spirit of giving with twinkling lights and the warm glow of candles. She had a contagious laugh and a way of making everyone feel welcome, loved and a part of her family. Mary was a light in the lives of those around her, radiating warmth and kindness like the sun on a perfect beach day. The ocean was a source of solace and joy for her, and she found peace in the sound of the waves and the vastness of the horizon. The rhythm of the waves and the salty air invigorated her spirit, and lighthouses, standing tall as guardians of the coast, held a special fascination for her. A celebration of life will be held in honor of remembrance in her home in Virginia Beach on Sunday, August 18, 2024.
