Christine Ann Butler

July 7, 1951 - October 27, 2024 Christine Ann Butler, a beacon of faith, resilience, and kindness, passed peacefully in her sleep on October 27, 2024, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Florida and raised in Virginia Beach, VA, Christine brought warmth and light to all who knew her. Her unwavering faith guided her life, and she was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, where she served with boundless devotion, strength, and love. A true servant of her faith, Christine’s spirit was one of grace and compassion, touching all she encountered. Christine spent over 30 years teaching and nurturing children in Norfolk and Virginia Beach, concluding her career at New Castle Elementary. Teaching was her calling, and she was deeply committed to inspiring her students and encouraging them to thrive. Christine was a proud alumna of Old Dominion University and a true Monarch at heart. An avid supporter of ODU Athletics, she held season tickets for both football and men’s basketball, cheering on her teams with unmatched pride. She will, without a doubt, be *Forever a Monarch*. Christine was a devoted wife, mother, and granny. She shared a deep and lasting love with her husband, Bruce Sr., to whom she was married for over 46 years. Together, they raised three cherished children: Bruce Jr. (Kim), Timothy (Lisa), and Amie (John), each of whom brought great pride and joy to her life. Her legacy lives on in her five adored grandchildren—Bruce III, Isabelle, Alexis, JJ, and Ava—who were the light of her life and whom she showered with endless love, laughter and affection. Christine was also a beloved sister and friend to Fred, Carmen, Cindy, and Roger, and is reunited in heaven with her parents, Freddie and Estelle DelaCruz, whom she honored with every good deed and every act of kindness. She leaves behind a cherished community of friends, neighbors, colleagues, nieces, and nephews, all of whom will remember her warmth, friendship, and kindness. The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the members of St. Thomas Episcopal Church for their love and support, the compassionate hospice care team from Chesapeake Regional Hospital, and the many friends and neighbors who walked alongside Christine and her family during her journey. A visitation to honor and remember Christine Butler will be held on Sunday, November 3rd, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.at Rosewood Kellum on Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach. The family warmly invites friends and loved ones to join them in sharing memories and offering their support during this time. A celebration of Christine's life will be held on Monday, November 4th at 10am at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Chesapeake. May her soul rest in peace, reunited with her beloved husband and embraced by the love of God.
