Betty Jo Reil

Betty Jo Reil, 87, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 22, 2024, surrounded by her family. Born in South Williamson, Kentucky, Betty was the daughter of the late Thomas Herman Dempsey and Emma Ratliff Dempsey. Mrs. Reil is predeceased by her parents, five brothers and one sister. She is survived by husband of 53 years, Orlando “Barney” Reil, daughter and son-in-law, Becky Reil and Ray Leonard, son, Blake Reil, one sister, Midge Webb, and numerous nephews and nieces. Betty was a secretary at Plaza Elementary and a Charter Member of the Virginia Tea Society. She named “raising her two children” as her greatest accomplishment. She enjoyed gardening and canning and was the first to bring a casserole or cake to anyone in need. Betty was a loving, caring person and a friend to all. A celebration of life will be held at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, 4889 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia, on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 10:00 am. Flowers are welcome.
