Nécrologie de Daniel Wayne Rose
Daniel Wayne Rose transitioned peacefully from this world on May 22, 2022 during the most beautiful sunset. He was surrounded by his family and an abundance of love. Dan, or “Sarge”, as he was known to some, was a friend to everyone – except fish. He loved nothing more than to be out on a lake or the ocean, angling for future fish tales. He loved hunting for critters and mushrooms, and was never shy about teaching others to do the same. Mostly, he loved his family and he put them above all else. He was a gentle leader, a shameless flirt, and a kind friend who always had a joke to spare. He was truly a beloved person. Dan was born and raised in Scio, Ohio on September 14, 1940. He grew up on a farm with his parents and 4 siblings. He was the oldest of the five children and was preceded in death by two of them, Demmi and Dennis, as well as his parents, Thelma and Forrest. After graduating Carrolton High School in 1958, he joined the U.S. Army, serving for 32 years as a Master Sergeant, including a deployment to Korea. On July 21, 1963, Dan married the love of his life, Marcia Ann Stephens. They had three children, Daniel Stephen, Michelle Renée, and Jeffrey Wayne. His wife Marcia, and daughter, Michelle, preceded him in death in 2008 and 2009. Dan and Marcia were married for 46 years. Dan leaves behind two sons, Daniel and Jeff Rose; three grandchildren, Renée Chaney, Michael Rose, and Christopher Taylor; one very dear great-grandson, Kaden Bennett; two siblings, Dixie and Dwain (Tracy); sisters-in-law, Patti Stephens Hughes, Kay Stephens of Fayetteville, AR, and Jane Ann Stephens; brother-in-law, Jim Stephens (Elaine); and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom he kept very near to his heart. A Life Celebration is being planned for September. Check the funeral home website or with Daniel’s family for updates on the date, time and place of the celebration.
