AUX SOINS DE
Roselawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park
Curtis Alan Harper, 70, passed away June 16, 2018, in Union Hospital surrounded by his family after a two year battle with liver cancer. He was born Nov. 10, 1947, in Brazil, to Lester Harper and Helen Lucille Grogan Harper. Curt fought the good fight with help from his family. We are especially thankful for son, Curtis Harper, who always made time to take us to Indianapolis for long days of treatment. Our family was not ready for our beloved Curt to leave us but God knew it was time and in a blink of an eye Saturday morning he took Curt home to Heaven to suffer no more.
Curt was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Charles and Nora Harper and Charles and Mary Young; and a granddaughter, Miranda Dawn Harper.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Shirley Bouillez Harper; son, Curtis Harper (Dawn); stepchildren, Shelley Wilkerson, who was so special in Curt's life, Gregory Stabler and Julie Mason; grandchildren, Bradley Wilkerson, Rhiannon Wilkerson, Arianna Wilkerson, who was also a huge help to us the past two years, Isaac Harper, Zac Harper, Lauralie Harper and Amber Stabler; great-grandson, Jordan Wilkerson; brother, Bradley Harper (Linda); sisters, Linda Patterson and Barbara Dehart.
Curt was a conductor for the railroad. He was an avid golfer playing several times a week for years with his traveling group of golf buddies. Thank you John Kush for all you did for Curt. He was also proud of his service to his country. He completed military police training, earned the National Defense Service Medal, and was a dog handler while serving in Vietnam. It was Curt's dangerous job along with his dog to check enemy tunnels. He earned the rank of Sergeant E-5. Curt was a member of American Legion Krietenstein Post 104. He received the 2017 Survivors Award.
Special thanks to his brother, Bradley for all the visits and prayers, to all our friends and local churches that prayed for him. Thank you also to Dr. Kunapareddy, nurses and staff for all the great care and treatment Curt received the past two years.
Curt was sincerely a friend to all and always saw the good in people.
Per Curt's request there will be no visitation or services. Roselawn Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements. Entombment will be in the Chapel of Memories at Roselawn Memorial Park. For those who desire the family requests that donations in Curt's memory be made to the Terre Haute Humane Society, 1811 S. Fruitridge Ave., Terre Haute, IN 47803 or to the charity of your choice. Expressions of sympathy and fond memories may be shared at: www.roselawnfuneral home.net
