Vivian Claudine (Anderson) Brooks, age 98, of Stuarts Draft, Virginia passed away Sunday, August 18, 2024, at her home with family by her side. Born August 16, 1926, in Augusta County, Virginia, she was a beloved daughter of the late Alfred Hamilton and Louise Frances (Slusher) Anderson. Claudine began her working career at Peoples Pharmacy in Waynesboro early in life and later Hollister, Inc. in Stuarts Draft until her retirement. She continued working after retirement at Stoney Creek Resort in Greenville. Claudine was a proud US Navy spouse for over 20 years. She was an active member of Stuarts Draft Baptist Church in her earlier years where her husband also served as a Deacon. Claudine enjoyed collecting antiques, cooking, outdoor gardening, and spending time with family. She was a gentle, kind, and caring person loved by everyone. Claudine’s life was a true testament to love, family, faith, hard work, and selfless sacrifice. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Finley Brooks; son, Jerry Brooks; sisters, Lena Forrest, Jean Allen, and Joyce Anderson; and brother, Bob Anderson. She is survived by her daughter, Vickie Summers; sisters, Peggy Truslow and Brenda Gibson (Wayne); grandsons, Charles Clinton Summers (Kathy), Benjamin Kirk Summers (Betsy), and Jerry Wayne Brooks II; great-grandsons, Tyler Summers, Chris Lawson, Eli Summers, Gabe Summers, and Jeremiah Summers; great-granddaughters, Kasey Dunton and Grace Summers; as well as extended family and friends. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday, August 22, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 1870 Stuarts Draft Hwy, Stuarts Draft, VA. A funeral service and burial will be held on Friday, August 23, at 11:00 AM at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro, VA.
