Jimmy Franklin Hendricks, 76, of Raphine passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family. Born April 23, 1947 in Augusta County, he was a son of the late Charles Leeburn and Mary Louise (Harris) Hendricks. Prior to retirement, Jimmy worked as a self-employed contractor for 50 years. He was a talented carpenter, who enjoyed the trade and took much pride in his work. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family at the home he had built. He also enjoyed frequent trips with his family to St. Augustine Florida to visit family and friends, and lived there for several years as a young husband and father. Jimmy, nicknamed “Pompey”, found happiness in passing down stories of his ancestors and helping keep their memories alive. Fishing was a favorite hobby of his, and making memories with his grandchildren was his favorite pastime. His family will be forever grateful for the guidance he gave and the foundation that he created. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Thomas “Bonton” Hendricks and Roger “Skeeter” Hendricks; sisters, Betty Jane (Hendricks) Fitzgerald and Doris Jean (Hendricks) Stevens; and the mother of his children, Reda (Rowe) Hendricks. Survivors include his three daughters, Brenda Houff and husband, Ed, of Richmond, Va, Jennifer Marshall of Raphine, and Lisa Coffman and Doodle Humphreys; grandchildren, Keith, Darin, Kelsie, Madison, Delanie, Aidan, and Cole; step-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Tate; great-grandson, Lukas; step-great-grandchildren, Eli and Sawyer; siblings, John “Duke” Hendricks and wife, Joyce, of FL, Bertha “Sissy” Taylor of Greenville, and Kenneth “Monk” Hendricks and wife , Diane, of FL; and numerous nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by a special fresh air child, Nickey Gonzalez. Following cremation, a celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 1870 Stuarts Draft Highway. Following the service, the family will receive friends on saturday at his home beginning at 4:00 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes of Stuarts Draft.
