Alice Faye Ambler

Alice Faye Ambler, 80, of Stuarts Draft, passed away on Monday, August 5th, 2024 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Faye was born in Norfolk County, VA to Elbert and Bonnie Mae (Cash) Miller on February 13th, 1944. Faye will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, homemaker, farm helper and confidant. She drove a school bus for Augusta County Public Schools for 33 years. In her spare time, Faye loved to cook, garden and play Bridge. She also enjoyed shopping at every thrift shop that she could find between Stuarts Draft and Norfolk. Faye could usually be found making trips to the beach, or supporting her grandchildren at all of their activities. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church for the past 25 years, and previously a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her sister, Bonnie “Belle” Armstrong and her daughter-in-law, Carol Ambler. Faye is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ernest Henry Ambler of Stuarts Draft; her children, Ernest “Ernie” Ambler Jr. of Waynesboro, Jeff Ambler and wife, Pam, of Stuarts Draft, Jeremy Ambler and wife, Amanda, of Stuarts Draft, and Amy Huffer of Stuarts Draft. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kaitlyn Hoy, Tyler Knight, Jordan Ambler, Brooke Cook, Samantha Huffer, Emma Grace Ambler, Shane Huffer, Reid Ambler, Reagen Ambler, River Ambler, Roland Ambler, Rillo Ambler, and Rhenn Ambler; as well as great-grandchildren, Hudson Hoy, Tate Cook, Haisley Hoy, Caroline Cook, and Levi Hoy. In addition, she is survived by her brother, Elbert “Sonny” Miller Jr.; her uncle, Bud Murphy; nieces and nephews, Jill Lightner, Cole Armstrong, Ryan Miller and Megan Miller; as well as her lifelong friend, Becky Williams. A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Sunday, August 11th at 3:00 PM at Calvary United Methodist Church in Stuarts Draft with Pastor David Vaughan officiating. A reception will follow immediately after the service.
