Lillian 'Lilly' P. Buonomo Betz, age 82, passed away on April 11, 2019. Lilly was born October 24, 1936 in Somerville, MA to the late Philip and Raffaela Buonomo. She had five children and later moved to Virginia Beach, VA in 1981. She resided there where she met her late beloved husband, Robert Betz. She later moved to Augusta County, VA, residing here for the past 21 years. She broke hearts as she unexpectedly left behind many who dearly loved her. Lilly was a loving, caring and wonderful Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend leaving a permanent mark etched on our hearts and will be supremely missed by a long list of family and friends. She was the proud mother of: Christine Prime (husband, James), Donna Doyle (husband Norman), Lillian 'Terry' Hladky (husband, Robert), Edward Fitzpatrick (wife, Jenn), John Buonomo (wife, Debbie), step-mother to Lauri, Bonnie, Julie and Karen Betz. She was a loving grandmother to 11 grandchildren: Bobby, Jason (wife, Candi), Jeffrey (wife, Jules), Norman (wife, Alysia), Ryan (wife, Juliann), Joel (wife, Marlo), Erin (husband, Brandon), Amanda, Angel, Celia and Devin. She also cherished her eight great-grandchildren: Robby, Arianna, Emma, Maxine, Audrey, Gavin, Sofia and Luca. Lilly has five surviving siblings: Margaret Searle, Rose Earl, Eleanor Hutchinson, Annette Fahey and Daniel Buonomo. Lilly had a long-standing relationship with her God, Jehovah, having strong faith to the end in the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ. She was assured that the 'enemy death ( 1 Cor 15 :26) will not have it's last word since her firm hope of a resurrection is sure (Job 14: 14 ). Our beloved Lillian will forever be remembered for her beautiful smile, gentle eyes, caring heart, loving embrace and unconditional love. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate her life and find comfort that she 'won the race' (2 Tim 4:7) with the 'real life' in view under God's Kingdom promise that she zealously shared with all she met (Matthew 24: 14). Lilly's favorite scripture was (Rev 21 :3-5) giving assurance that 'tears, pain and death will be no more'. The family would like to thank the many friends and family that have been so generous with love and support during this difficult time. All are welcome to a memorial service in her memory at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Saturday,May 4th, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at 732 Augusta Farms Road, Waynesboro, VA. Following will be a brief gathering at the Mint Spring Ruritan Club, 1912 Lee Jackson Hwy, Staunton, VA.
