Russell James Riedell

Russell James Riedell died on December 21, 2022, after a long illness. He was born on December 2, 1930, in Norwalk, CT. He is survived by his wife, Annette Adams Riedell and one son, Keith Riedell of Sacramento, CA and three Stepchildren, Diana Morris of Woodbridge, VA, Robert Benoit, Jr of District Heights, MD and Christina Darville of Myrtle Beach, SC. He also has four step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren. Russell joined the U. S. Navy on March 28, 1948, and served on active duty for thirty years. He rose to the highest level of the enlisted ranks, Master Chief Petty Officer. Some of his duty assignments were several ships and several shore duty posts including the USS Intrepid, Bangor, ME, Brooklyn, NY, Norfolk, VA, Groton, CT and Danang, Vietnam. A funeral service for Russell will be held Monday, January 9, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, 186 Shelton Shop Rd, Stafford, Virginia 22554. Following the funeral service will be an interment at 1:00 PM at Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Rd, Triangle, Virginia 22172.
