Theresa was born February 10, 1932 in Barnesboro, Pa. She retired from the Federal Government at Defense Fuel Supply after 25+ years of service. Mrs. Hughes volunteered at the Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum digging up medicine bottles and other items from under the mud in the basement. Helping to transform this building back to the original family business founded in 1792 and operated in the current location from 1805 until 1933. It represents one of Alexandria’s oldest continuously run business that combined retailing, wholesaling, and manufacturing. Mrs. Hughes was also a volunteer at the Inova Alexandria Hospital located on the corner of Seminary Rd. and N. Howard St. for 15+ years. Theresa was preceded in death by her husband Eldon Hughes; parents, Harry and Viola Lann; brothers, Harry Lann and Greg Lann; sister, Lucille Wolanin and two infant daughters. SURVIVORS: Brother Cletus Lann, sisters, Rose Moxley, Viola Kolonay, Maggie Lann and Frances Shumaker; son, Eldon Hughes, Wayne Hughes and wife Carol; grand-children Nicholas Hughes and wife Sara, Angela Adkins and husband Brandon, Christine Abrams and husband Jason, Shawn Hughes and fiancé Mary Johnson, and Elizabeth Hughes; Nine (9) great-grandchildren, Sidney Adkins, Wyatt Adkins, Callie Abrams, Kaiden Adkins, Zayne Hughes, Payton Abrams, Makayla Abrams, Jual Jeanette “JJ” Hughes and Phoenix Hughes. Donations can be made in memory of Theresa to the American Cancer Society, Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum Old Town Alexandria, Va. or Inova Alexandria Hospital
