Patrick H Skeldon

Lt. Colonel Patrick H. Skeldon Patrick H. Skeldon, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend peacefully departed this world on Saturday, August 23nd at his home in Springfield, Virginia. He was 69 years old. Born January 15, 1945 in Douglas, Arizona, Patrick was the second of seven children, born to Colonel Joseph Skeldon and his wife Patricia. As the son of an Air Force Colonel, Patrick and his family led a fascinating life, living in cities across the United States and around the world. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Seattle, and upon graduation he followed in his father’s footsteps by joining the military in 1968, as a Marine. He was commissioned as second lieutenant and became a Marine fighter pilot. Lt. Colonel Skeldon served in Vietnam as a combat pilot where he flew 285 combat missions as a member of the Black Knights, 1st Marine division. He was a highly decorated Marine officer, fulfilling his final service as a trainer at the Pentagon for Marine and Naval pilots. Following his distinguished military career he became a commercial airline pilot where he worked for Comair/Delta for nearly 15 years. Patrick is survived by his loving wife Deborah (Ellrich), sons Jeffrey Sean (Lori) and Steven Patrick, daughter Molly Marie Kay (James), brother Daniel (Ingrid), Terence (Pamela), Kevin (Lisa) and sister Shawn, an adored grandfather of Jeffrey Kay, Hannah Kay, Truth Skeldon and Lotus Skeldon. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Shannon and his brother Brad. Friends may call on September 4th at Demaine Funeral Home 5308 Backlick Rd Springfield, VA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on September 5th at Holy Spirit Catholic church, 5121 Woodland Way, Annandale, VA. Interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors on Thursday December 18, 2014 at 3:00 PM.
