Francis (Frank) X. Talbot was born in September, 1961 and passed away on June 23, 2017. He was the son of the late Dr. Frank Talbot and he is survived by his mother, Suzanne Talbot. He is the brother of Laura Whitford (Dave), Valerie Talbot, Pam Takacs (Dan) and Lissa Livingston (Scott). He has five nieces and nephews, Bryan, Kristy, Kelly, Lyndsay and Suzy.
Frank was born at GW Hospital in Washington, DC and grew up in Alexandria VA. He graduated from Ascension Academy in Alexandria. He attended University of Maryland, earning a BS in Nuclear Engineering. Frank was a licensed professional engineer (PE) and a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers. Frank lived in College Park Maryland. Frank’s first position after graduating from college was with the Dept. of Defense where he worked for one year. He then transferred to the Department of Energy as a Nuclear Engineer. After 2 years at DOE, he transferred to the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission where he worked for 27 years as a Reactor Operations Engineer. Frank traveled around the USA and internationally inspecting nuclear power plants and working. Frank was also a member of the Nuclear Society Professional Engineering Examination Committee where he helped author problems that brought new reactor technologies that helped strengthen the Nuclear engineering examinations. Many of his co-workers expressed the same views about Frank. His dedication, positive outlook, professionalism and enthusiasm for his work and the safety mission at NRC.
His family and friends also knew Frank for the same attributes. Frank had a great sense of humor and always had a joke. He was incredibly kind and compassionate for others. In the face of adversity, he was always positive, upbeat and cheerful. He had a huge personality just like his father and you always knew when he was in the house because of his distinctive laugh and boisterous voice. His sisters remember how mischievous he was as a young child. He kept his Mom and older sisters chasing after him to keep him out of trouble and dangers way because he was a very active little guy. As the only boy in the family of five children he had to keep his sisters on their toes at all times.
Frank will be terribly missed by his mother, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins and his many friends. May the lord deliver his soul to heaven where he will live and rest in eternal peace.
