John Leonard West, Jr., 89, a resident of Shenandoah, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023.
He was born on November 6, 1933 in Washington, DC and was the son of the late John L. and Mary E. King West.
John served in the Army Security Agency during his time in the US Army. He has lived in Shenandoah for 23 years and was an active member of Furnace United Methodist Church. He was owner of a dry cleaning business in Arlington, VA and was a delivery driver for NAPA Auto Parts in Elkton for three years before retiring. He was also a Mason and past Grand Master Mason. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Deirdre Ridenour West; his children, Mary Anne Fernandez, John Douglas West, Diana L. Colgan, Joan Hart and Carol Engelbrecht; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, three grandchildren preceded him in death.
Honoring his wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no services.
