Joseph Beard Jr.

Joseph Beard, Jr., 92, of Richmond, passed away February 15, 2013. He was born on September 27, 1920 in Richmond. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Annie Beard, and brother, Frank. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Anita S. Beard; brother, Earl (Doris); and sister, Mary Ann Sacra (Ervin); sons, Jud, Rod (Debbie) and Dean; grandchildren, Whitney Bennetch (Jimmy), Taylor Beard; and great-grandson, Waverly Bennetch. Mr. Beard served in the Navy during World War II, and was a proud member of the Corps of Cadets at John Marshall High School. The family will receive friends 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens, 12609 Patterson Ave. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 4600 Cox Road, Glen Allen, Virginia 23060.
