Nécrologie de Jean Pallette Wright
Jean Pallette Wright, 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 12, 2023 with her husband of 68 years by her side. Jean was born July 18, 1936. Originally from Virginia Beach she was born to the late Lillian Langford (Hartley) Pallette and William Harrison Pallete. She was also preceded in death by eight siblings, Faye, William, Roy, Alma, Aubrey, Shelby, and Mary Anne. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Richard W. “Dick” Wright; three children, Deborah Jean Harvey (Jerry), Michael Warren Wright, and Rodney Nelson Wright (Kack); sister, Betty Jane Wise of Fairfax; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren who were the joy of her life. Macy’s will miss her frequent trips with and for them. It is rumored that there company stock dropped when it was learned that Jean could no longer shop there. She was a consummate hostess at many corporate events for her husband’s company at Life of Virginia as one example, newly hired agents from around the country would come to Richmond for new agent school. They would visit her home for a social hour - always a great treat. Neighbors did not mind when the bus arrived to drop off 40 or so agents. Her five years in Durham, NC were the same and she made countless friends there. Returning to Richmond she was an active member of Westwood Club for over 50 years and a member of Tuckahoe Women’s Club as well. Jean was an active, high energy person. She enjoyed playing tennis in the Suburban League. She also enjoyed playing Bridge and did so at Westwood as well as a Fox Chapel Member Group. Not to be outdone was her dedication to one of God’s special children (Michael). She brought him above and beyond anything the doctors predicted, one of her last questions to her husband was have you taken care of Michael? She loved to travel and enjoyed many cruises with her friends and family. One special occasion was her 50th anniversary cruise with the entire family – quite a crowd. Time at her condo at Virginia Beach was special with friends and neighbors where Dominos was the game of choice. Anyone who knew her and especially the family knew she loved card playing such as Spades and Skip-Po. Her legacy has to be her love for family, friends, and her church. She was always pleasant and did not have a bad word to say about anyone. A longtime member of Derbyshire Church where a service of celebration will be held on Friday, November 17th, 2023 at 2 p.m. in the church sanctuary with a reception to follow, 8800 Derbyshire Road, Richmond, VA 23229. The family would like to give a special thanks to Bon Secours Hospice Care for their dedication and to Tamara Cousley, her live in aide. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hope Tree Family Services, 860 Mt. Vernon Ln., Salem, VA 24153 or Derbyshire Baptist Church. Burial will be private at a later date.
