CHARLES HILMER WINBERG passed away at the age of 85
years on July 5, 2012. He and his wife, Mary Page,
enjoyed 55 years of marriage. He was a native of Cadiz,
Ohio and attended Ohio State University. He was
graduated from the University of Richmond Law School
and passed the Virginia State Bar at the first sitting.
He was the son of Oscar E. and Freda Winberg and was
born October 19, 1926. His sister Alice Augusta, and
brothers Robert and Eugene predeceased him. He served
as Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney for Henrico County
appointed in August 1986 and practiced law. He served
in the United States Navy in 1945 and in the United
States Army in 1947 in Tokyo (Occupied Japan). He is
survived by his daughter Molly Hamilton Simpson
(husband Kenneth Richard) and granddaughters Mary Alice
Simpson and Heather Nichole Simpson. Other survivors
include nephews Tom Winberg (and Dorcas), Eugene
Winberg (and April) and niece Carol Winberg Roe (Dave).
He and his family were especially fortunate to have
had the loving care and support of Dr. John Sheridan
Ashworth.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St.
Mark's United Methodist Church 11551 Lucks Lane,
Midlothian, VA 23114, or Grace Covenant Presbyterian
Church 1627 Monument Avenue, Richmond, VA 23220. or
honor Chuck's memory with a simple act of kindness for
someone less fortunate.
Gone is another of the greater generation.
Gravesite service sill be on Tuesday, July 10 at 10am
at Westhampton memorial gardens.
