Akaki Gvakharia

Akaki (Aka) Gvakharia passed away Thursday, May 11th, in Midlothian, VA at the age of 54. He is survived by his wife Ira, sons Sandro and Nick, daughter-in-law Lindsay, and dog Slinky. He was preceded in death by his parents Alexander (Shura) and Tsira and his sister Sopho. Aka was a brilliant doctor who loved technology, good food, wine, and his family and friends. He had a larger-than-life personality and a vibrant, positive attitude. He treated everyone he met with warmth and friendship, regardless of whether he knew them for 20 minutes or 20 years. He could converse for hours on music, movies, literature, art, and sports. A visitation will be held Tuesday, May 16th, 12:00PM - 3:00PM at the Woody Funeral Home Parham. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a charitable donation in Aka's name to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
